Barry Solomon

Barry Solomon began studying the oboe at the age of 10. A key member of the both the School Choir and Motet Choir, he soon demonstrated his love of performing by contributing to school concerts and recitals, singing and playing numerous solos, as well as winning the Maylor Wind Cup in the annual School Music Competition in his final year.

Barry went on to read Modern Languages (French and German) at the University of Aston in Birmingham, continuing his oboe studies, and founding the Solomon Oboe Quartet.

Barry is now an IT consultant, but continues to maintain an active interest in music: playing classical music in orchestras, ensembles and solo; singing and playing saxophone in popular music; singer and player of oboe and cor anglais ("tenor oboe") in the religious and secular music of the Jewish Babylonian tradition performed by the Rivers of Babylon under the direction of Dr Sara Manasseh. Barry is also the Honorary Secretary of the Hampstead Music Club, in which he also performs frequently.
